MRC-Cyclotron Unit, ICSM, Hammersmith Hospital, London; initially Unit's Radiation Health Physicist participated in tumour radiobiology studies with fast neutron beam
From 1967, in collaboration with RPMS at Hammersmith, investigations into the clinical research applications of short lived, cyclotron produced radioisotopes.
In 1979 initiated and subsequently developed PET programme at MRC-CU.
In 2000, moved to the University of Manchester to establish PET based Molecular Imaging Centre (WMIC) at the Christie Hospital which became operational in 2006

Focus of reserch is on the functional role of neuroactive peptides and inflammatory mediators in the modulation of seizures and related neuropathology, on the mechanisms of pharmacoresistance and on preclinical development of novel antiepileptic treatments.
Chair of the Commission on Neurobiology of International League Against Epilepsy which is promoting initiatives for improving translational research in epilepsy.
