Institute Presentation

The Centre for Integrated Molecular Brain Imaging (Cimbi) has an international reputation in the areas of neuroimaging (MRI, PET, SPET) in neuropsychiatric disorders, signal processing, and in translational neuroscience. The centre includes several institutions in Copenhagen as well as collaborating laboratories in Europe and the U.S. Core institutions include different departments at the Copenhagen University Hospitals, The Technical University of Denmark and the Danish University of Pharmaceutical Studies.

Cimbi has its main activities at The Neurobiology Research Unit (NRU) at Rigshospitalet which is an integrated part of the Department of Neurology and it works with receptor brain imaging in healthy subjects and in neuropsychiatric disorders, receptor immunohistochemistry and quantification, tracer validation, kinetic modelling and data analysis. The Unit runs its own 3-headed SPET scanner at the Dept. Neurology, for research and clinical use. For genotyping, the group  works closely with the Department of Medical Genetics at Copenhagen University.
Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR), Hvidovre Hospital is specialized in MR brain imaging methods: fMRI, Morphology, DTI, animal scanning.
The PET and Cyclotron Unit under the Dept. of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine, Rigshospitalet currently has 5 PET-scanners, including a HRRT (installed March 2007), radiosynthesis facilities and expertise. It is the largest and best equipped nuclear medicine imaging facilities in Denmark, with multiple PET/CT devices and excellent radiochemistry facilities.
The Dept. Neurology is closely associated with the National Hospital for Epilepsy in Dianalund and the Dept. Neurosurgery at Rigshospitalet and with the Dept Psychiatry at Glostrup University Hospital, Copenhagen.
