Human PET studies: WP04, WP05, WP06 and WP07

In-vivo imaging of multidrug transporter function in humans will also allow us to:

1. develop quantitative methodology to measure their expression and/or functionality (WP05)
2. directly evaluate the effect of modulators on the cerebral uptake of P-gp substrates (WP04 and WP06)
3. establish the relationship between P-gp function and the in vivo occupancy of therapeutic drugs which are P-gp substrates (WP04 and WP07)
4. Determine the role of multidrug transporters for pharmacoresistance in epilepsy (WP04 and WP06) and the role of the BBB in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s Disease (WP07)
5. examine P-gp function in the BBB in drug-resistant in comparison to drug-responsive individuals (WP04 and WP06).
